The Computer Science Department was founded in 1969.
It has valuable research connections with other units at the University including Mathematics, DIMACS, SCILS, ECE, Conitive Science, WINLAB and RDI2 to name a few.
Here we introduce the professional MSDS program within the department. It is designed from the ground up to focus on the latest system tools and algorithms to store, retrieve, process, analyze, visualize, and synthesize data at different scales. This special two years program consist of six fundational classes and six elective classes. Every student is required to complete before graduation a competitive one semester Capstone Project. The central goal of the program is to build systems that integrate in a coherent manner the full data cycle: from data gathering to data visualization and data synthesis aided by computer-human interaction.
